Art Project: Take Apart: 2016-7

Picture

Take Apart:  2016-17

Project Description: This is a simple meditation on impermanence, in video.

In 2016 and 2017, I have been dismantling and taking apart half finished works, cutting up drawings, burning papers. I became mesmerized by the first video I took of this reversal process, and how it's both a document and a monument to nothing ever sticking around for long. The outcome is a magical pile of possible material for new work, and new mediations on possession, what a thing is. The marvelous sudden disappearance of that thing.
