Plastic, cotton, video, gong. Event: May 18, 2014 Project Description: What happens if we look differently at a common situation or a shared experience? A group of people watching the movie Clueless is one such situation to explore. What is it like if you place a giant stand in marker for every instance of laughter noticed in the group of watchers, or see people brush against one another in the film?
I wanted to exaggerate and literally blow up subtle and fleeting elements in such a situation, for these to be impossible to overlook. I wanted to take something ordinary and make it absurd and extreme. I love the movie Clueless, and I also love that its title relates to the open, beginner's mind cultivated in meditation.
