       Project Description:
The second 'block project' event of SpotCount took place on August 23rd at the Gloucester New Arts Festival Headquarters. Residents of the festival stopped their work to eat, plan the opening festival event together, and followed simple instructions related to observation and placing blocks.

A slab of concrete, in a green, park environment, high sun, elements afixed to the three bolts sticking up out of the ground: white and pink balloons uninflated, tied around the bolts, a wooden clothespin clipped to one bolt in the foreground, (the photo is a closeup shot of this clothespin), and some loose red plastic materialcoming off the bottom of the clip. Orange and pink elements can be seen through the long grass around the slab, in the distance, wrapped around a metal pole, and a brick building is blurry in the far distance.

Close up of pink material billoughing around a metal pole, with red balloon tying it to a black pole. A windy, blue ocean is visible behind, and a bright blue sky.

Similarly to the last photograph, this image is a closeup of colorful plastic material, affixed to black metal railing, with a clothsepin with light blue handles. The material held in place is turquoise blue and a slightly blue, partially unfurled hawaiian lai.

A closeup of rocks, a larger boulder, and some blue plastic visible under the rocks. A blue tipped clothespin is visible among the blue plastic, and there is billoughing strips of blue plastic affixed to a black railing in the background...overlooking the ocean, which is not visible, but in the bright light beyond the rail.

A closeup of the edge of the basketball court, a dark gray surface, with a lighter blue powder scattered, along with two light blue covered round stones, some smaller pebbles, a lance armstrong style rubber bracelet in blue with '2 cute' visible imprinted on it, and a blue plastic bottle top ring also placed there. There's a white court line across the edge of the court, and beyond there, evidence of blue powder blown into the edge of the grass.

This piece, is vertically oriented, a stack of business cards, wrapped with kelly green embroidery thread and lemon yellow cotton thread. Tucked into the various wrappings is a series of antique paper strips, folded and placed diagonally, creating a scale-like effect. The incorporated paper fans out beyond the paper stack behind it. The stack is about an inch deep from the wall.

West-facing shot of the basketball court with powder marks, Here visible as small, loose rectangles of powder.

Looking down upon the side of a stone trash receptacle, which has a light green plastic material bunched around it, held in place by clothespins tipped with light blue and white. The back of the clothspins hold small rectanglular shapes in yellow and white, and a yellow rubberband is tied around the light blue clothespin. Several yellow rectangles are lying in a loose row on the ground below the trash receptacle. Cement on the ground is light gray and in shadow.

Green pebble-shaped forms, in a macro-closeup, lined up in a crack of the sidewalk.
