           Statement

I like to make visible the fleeting and the overlooked, often investigating what is happening in a given space - a look, a nod, a comment, a gesture, or sound. It may interpret a landscape, describe events in a public space, or express a group interaction as a painting, installation, sculpture or drawing. Sometimes I enlist the help of others as observers and mark-makers, devising systems and opportunities for collaboration. A college student stacking blocks in a cafe, one for every time he hears laughter, a gallery attendant placing a mark on the wall for each time she is alone, or a visual trace of hundreds of personal responses to a single work of art, are some examples of projects in the works or completed. So, to review, it's whats happening within a space, and making a visual trace of those events, that compels me along.
