'Commute' translates the patterns within eight short films of a regular commute from Gloucester to Beverly into marks and activities on eight corresponding surfaces. From the films, I document patterns of movement, sound, and events and then reinterpret these records in ink dips, folds, punctures, and marks with various tools and dimensional paint. The color and composition is intuitive, and there is no direct key to 'decipher' how the events and marks correspond; every recorded element however, is represented in a piece - one for every film.
